Drivers have struggled with heavy delays in town this week with a series of emergency repairs and scheduled works taking place.
The increase in traffic can be put down to roadworks on three key roads, often described as pinch points, as well as a speed limit being put in place on Orwell Bridge.
Woodbridge Road
Part of Woodbridge Road, between Lacey Street and Palmerston Road, was closed earlier in the week due to essential repairs being carried by UK Power Networks.
The road provides a key route between Ipswich town centre and Ipswich Hospital, heading towards Kesgrave, causing heavy traffic in the area.
A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the road closure on Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, during essential repairs to the underground electricity network.
"We are working to maintain safe and reliable electricity supplies and aim to remove the roadworks earlier than planned on Sunday."

Bramford Road
There have been heavy delays in Bramford Road as well as the construction of a new two-way link road to Europa Way continues.
A two-way traffic signal has seen heavy delays in the area, which will continue until the works are expected to be completed in April 2025.
Meanwhile, further delays have been seen closer to the town centre for roadworks being carried out by Suffolk Highways installing a High Voltage Cable on Sirdar Road.
These works are expected to last until Thursday, December 19.
Wherstead Road
Wherstead Road also saw heavy traffic as two sets of traffic signals were put in place on Thursday.
The signals were in place to allow Anglian Water to conduct repairs to the local water supply.
While delays in the area have since cleared up, a new emergency traffic signal has also been put in place on the road near the junction with Austin Street for repairs.

Orwell Bridge
All this comes as a 40mph speed limit on the A14 at Orwell Bridge was also been put in place to allow repairs to a bridge joint.
National Highways has also warned that the bridge could close this weekend if wind speeds caused by Storm Darragh become dangerously high.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “We are planning for the Orwell Bridge to remain open, but we are aware of the storm and will be carefully monitoring wind speeds and gusts in the area."
