Every summer brings along with it some new opportunities for FC Barcelona to take a look at. With new deals popping up in every single transfer window, it makes sense for the Catalan giants to remain aware of various developments. However, as Barcelona are aware themselves, some deals can have a ripple effect of sorts.
This time around, in the upcoming summer window of 2025, it is expected that various deals over the course of the window could have similar effects. However, a recent report has now highlighted that even Barcelona could potentially be involved in one of them.
According to Fichajes, Real Madrid’s interest in Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch will also end up having an impact on Barcelona. In the event that Los Blancos manage to secure the signing of their own target, Barça’s Frenkie de Jong will automatically become Liverpool’s ideal replacement.
The English club will then try to pursue the Dutch midfielder, but it will likely not be an easy process and nor will it be a cheap one. However, the report points out that his profile is seen as an ideal one to fit Liverpool and that the club believes his skillset is tailor-made for the English Premier League.
A three-way domino effect could lead to these two transfers paving the way for each other. Barcelona already remain uncertain about whether or not to let go of De Jong, given that the player does have great footballing ability but continues to be a financial problem for the club. Moreover, other suitors from the Premier League already having stepped forward as well beyond just Liverpool.
