Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has always been reserved when it comes to giving interviews. This has become even more apparent during what is arguably the most challenging period of his time in Spain.
The Frenchman is currently facing criticism after missing two consecutive penalties and with the team’s overall form and results taking a noticeable dip.
His public appearances and statements have been largely limited to brief interactions through the club’s media channels or immediate post-match comments.
Mbappe will break silence
Despite his usual reluctance, Mbappe has decided to break his silence. He has chosen to speak with Canal+ which will air an exclusive interview with him on Sunday.
In the lead-up to this, the programme shared a teaser of the conversation on Friday, offering a glimpse into Mbappe’s thoughts on the atmosphere surrounding him and the constant speculation in the media.
Mbappe expressed his frustration about the rumours that often circulate about him. As one of the biggest stars in football, he highlighted the challenge of people speaking on his behalf without any input from him.

“That people talk about me? The problem, when you’re a star, is that people speak for you,” he said.
He revealed that this interview was an effort to address the narratives around him and to let people understand his perspective amidst the circus that often surrounds his name.
“Every day things come out while I haven’t spoken to anyone. That’s why I’m talking to you today. At a given moment, you have to talk. People need to understand you,” he added.
A match ahead
Before the full interview is aired, Mbappe has a crucial match to focus on this Saturday evening. The stakes are high, not just for the player but for Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti as well.
The club is scrutinising Ancelotti’s start to the season, and upcoming fixtures could play a decisive role in his future at the helm.
A poor result against Girona this weekend or against Atalanta in the Champions League next week could increase pressure on the Italian coach.
This is a pivotal moment for both the squad and the manager, with a need for the dressing room to unite and show their backing.
