Everton and Liverpool’s final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park has been postponed due to the effects of Storm Darragh.

It has been a long-awaited fixture with Everton set to undergo some big changes over the coming months both on and off the pitch.

The Friedkin Group are closing in on their Everton takeover, and the Toffees are set to move into their new stadium next summer.

There is still a long season ahead of Sean Dyche and his side who were looking to make it two wins on the bounce following their 4-0 victory over Wolves.

But Storm Darragh has postponed the Merseyside Derby, which was set for Saturday’s early kick-off, as people’s safety has been prioritised.

Following the postponement, there has now been footage released from inside Goodison Park showing the effects of the storm.

Footage emerged earlier in the week showing the effects of the weather on Everton’s new stadium, and TNT Sports shared an insight from Goodison on Saturday morning.

“Have you heard? The Merseyside Derby’s cancelled. Listen to the sign, keep off the grass!” said Evertonian Ryan Hall.

“And that’s all from Detective Still Ryan,” he said as a bag flew past his face due to the elements.

The potential postponement of the Merseyside Derby was threatened over recent days but the severity was revealed overnight.

Now it is just a waiting game to find out when the game will be rescheduled.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot was worried about Storm Darragh

Speaking ahead of the game on Friday, Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted that the expected high winds was something he was going to have to consider.

Slot praised Everton’s danger from set pieces and the added element of the wind provided a real concern for the Dutchman.

“Weather? Not a consideration at the moment but we take this into consideration for choices we make, the execution of the players, not the lineup,” he said.

“The wind in your back, impacts certain actions. There are many things we take into account.”

Fortunately for the Reds, they are going to avoid the storm Everton have caused recently from set pieces after netting from four on Wednesday night.
