Peter Crouch has named Newcastle United as the club he hoped to join during his 20-year playing career.
A household name in English football, the former striker played for Queens Park Rangers, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Norwich City, Southampton, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Stoke City and Burnley. A move to Sunderland almost materialised in 2009 before an eventual move to Spurs, when Crouch was arguably at the peak of his powers
He is a deserved member of the Premier League’s “100 club” - with 108 goals since bursting on the scene in the early 2000s. Crouch also boasted a solid record against Newcastle, with six strikes only bettered by tallies when facing Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers (both nine).
However, the 6ft 7in beanpole regrets not donning the famous black and white stripes. Crouch also had complimentary words about Toon fans and the club’s iconic Local Hero anthem.

"Even the music before the game they play up at Newcastle. I've always enjoyed playing as an away player there. They understand football. They live and breathe it.
"If I had gone in just after that Alan Shearer phase, I would have been at a good age then but these things don't work out. It's all hypothetical, but if I had to pick one club to play for, it would have been Newcastle."
