Federico Dimarco has joined Achraf Hakimi, Alejandro Grimaldo, and Jeremie Frimpong in an elite group of defenders.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that after his goal against Parma, the Italian international has both scored and assisted more than ten goals since the start of last season.
Dimarco certainly has license to get himself into attacking positions at Inter.
Playing on the left flank of the Nerazzurri’s 3-5-2 formation, Dimarco tends to move around quite freely.
The 27-year-old’s teammates often work to support his attacking forays.
And there is a reason for that. Dimarco has the quality and consistency to make the most of dangerous positions.
The Italian international is one of the best crossers of the ball in European football, with his record of assists a testament to that.
Federico Dimarco Joins Hakimi, Grimaldo & Frimpong On Attacking Stat
Dimarco has made eleven assists for Inter teammates since the start of last season.
But it is not just about providing the deliveries for other players to finish.
Dimarco also gets into the penalty area very frequently. And as he showed against Parma, he is more than capable of finding the back of the net when he gets into positions to do so.
Moreover, Dimarco possesses a real goal threat from long-range shooting positions.
All that adds up to Dimarco having scored eleven goals since the start of last season, the same number he’s assisted.
Only three other defenders in Europe have managed to both assist and score and assist more than ten goals.
And all three are very attack-minded wingbacks like Dimarco.
Paris Saint-Germain and former Inter wingback Achraf Hakimi has scored eleven and assisted twelve.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo has scored eleven and assisted fifteen.
Lastly, Grimaldo’s Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong has scored nineteen and assisted sixteen.
