Liverpool fans will have to wait to see their side in action again after Saturday’s game against Everton was called off.
The Reds were due to play the final Premier League Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park, but Storm Darragh put paid to the occasion.
Instead, Liverpool now have an extra day’s break before heading off to Spain to face Girona in the Champions League.
There has so far been a mixed response to the postponement of Saturday’s game. Some Liverpool fans have been pleased with the match’s cancellation, citing the extra rest as a real positive.
However, it cannot be ignored that the game will now likely be shoehorned into what is already a busy Liverpool fixture list.
For Reds boss Arne Slot, he may also now have to completely rethink his plans for the week ahead.

Arne Slot set for Liverpool rethink
Given that Liverpool had faced the prospect of playing three matches in eight days, Slot will likely have already had a line-up for each game in mind.
Of course, you cannot account for any new injury issues and things like that.

But it’s probable that the Liverpool head coach had at least a good idea of who would be starting each game.
Having won five games out of five in the Champions League so far, it’s likely that Slot would have seen Tuesday’s game as a chance to give some lesser seen members of the Liverpool squad a run out.

The Reds’ good position atop the League Phase table meant that the matches against both Everton and Fulham were far more important.
But now, with some players facing the prospect of 10 days without a game, Slot may well decide to go far stronger against Girona than he had initially planned.
Liverpool must keep the momentum going
Although some supporters are delighted by the chance to rest some weary legs this weekend, Slot and the Liverpool coaching staff will probably look at things differently.
If big players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are now rested against Girona, they could be coming in a little cold to Saturday’s meeting with Fulham.
It may be more beneficial for Slot to try and keep things ticking over, selecting more of his regular starting XI in order to keep momentum going.
That will potentially be bad news for some such as Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott, who would likely have been pencilled in to play a bigger part at Girona.
Extra rest in such a busy schedule is never a bad thing, but Slot will be wary of getting the balance right across the next week.
