Arsenal have been in the market in search of reinforcements for their midfield in recent times. It has emerged that Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of Bayern Munich utility man Joshua Kimmich and wishes to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
As per reports from Football London earlier this year, the Gunners made a move to sign Kimmich at the end of the 2023/24 season. The 29-year-old’s existing deal with the Bavarian giants runs out in June 2025, however, leaving him free to negotiate with clubs from abroad starting January 2025.
Despite missing an opportunity to fortify their midfield in the summer, Arsenal will circle back to a player they consider a top target. Joshua Kimmich can play as an inverting right back – a position that is a mainstay in this Gunners’ team, or as a midfielder, which is the position he started his career in.
However, Bayern Munich are likely to provide tough resistance and will not let one of their most-prized assets leave with ease.

Mikel Arteta has shown great tactical adaptability with his players, deploying some of them in positions not normally associated with them. From playing Kai Havertz in midfield, to using Thomas Partey as a makeshift right back, the Spaniard has shown he is not afraid to play players where he sees fit.
To this tune, Arteta is keen to expand his squad by adding another such utility player, with the only difference being the player is probably the best in the world in this role. With 410 appearances for Bayern Munich under his belt, Joshua Kimmich will bring truck loads of experience with him. He has also chipped-in with 42 goals and 108 assists, making him a great asset.

Adept at playing with both feet, Kimmich is one of the smartest footballers around. His positioning, distribution and ability to cover space on the pitch makes him one of the top players around the world. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can begin negotiations for a free transfer, or if Bayern step in and offer Kimmich a new contract to deter potential suitors.
