Newcastle United are aiming to make it four wins on the bounce at Brentford come 5pm today.

Thomas Frank expects a “big test” for his Brentford side when they take on Newcastle United later today.

Both sides are level on points after 14 games, with the Bees yet to lose a game on home soil. While their away form has not been as relentless, the game being played at the Gtech Community Stadium poses a stern test for the Magpies.

Newcastle have won the last three fixtures at Brentford - including a final-day 4-2 win in May. United, like much of the Premier League this season, have stuttered their way through the early stages of the campaign.

A 3-3 draw against league leaders Liverpool on Wednesday rejuvenated supporters following last-minute heartache at Crystal Palace. Victory could place Newcastle as high as fifth should other results go their way.

Speaking at his pre-game press conference, Bees boss Frank praised Eddie Howe while suggesting the Magpies will be their “biggest test” this season. That is despite Brentford already facing Liverpool and Manchester City, albeit away from home.

“They were brilliant at home to Arsenal,” he told reporters. They were brilliant on Wednesday at home to Liverpool, they were very good away to Chelsea - they were unlucky not to get something out of that game.

“At home to West Ham, they absolutely dominated them. I think it's an Eddie Howe team that is at its best and it will be a big test for us. This will be the biggest test that we have faced at home so far this season."
