Lisandro Martinez has been impressed by RUben Amorim's early work.
Lisandro Martinez has hailed new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim for his energy and intensity following a promising start at Old Trafford - and says it reminds him of his own approach to football.
While Amorim tasted defeat for the first time on Wednesday night away to Arsenal, to leave United in the bottom half of the table, there have been some signs of promise almost a month into the job.
And Martinez, who served a one-match ban for the 2-0 reverse at the Emirates Stadium, believes the energetic approach from Amorim and his backroom team is having a galvanising effect on the squad.
“It’s the way I like to play, the way of playing football: the passion, the energy,” Martinez told the United matchday programme ahead of Saturday afternoon's game against Nottingham Forest.

“You know, if you have that with me, it's like you connect quickly. He has many, many good things. I think he demands what the club demands, which is good.
“I like his passion, his energy, the way he wants to play - good in possession, in defending. I think he's good - also the staff, the energy around [the place], it [has been] so good, yeah.”
Martinez is also one of few players in the squad, along with ex-Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, who has experience of playing in Amorim's favourite 3-4-2-1 formation.
And while the tenacious South American says he “feels great in this system” there is a bit more nuance to it than simply describing it as a three-man defence.
Ruben Amorim is making an early impact at Manchester United.
“It's with three in the back but, during the game, you have principles,” he added.
“Sometimes you are with four at the back, you are sometimes with five. It depends how they attack, how we attack, how we are in defence. But yeah, I like it.
“I like the intensity, I like the energy. I like, for example, how he wants to play in possession and without possession as well. So, yeah, I feel great in this system.”
