Premier League champions Manchester City will hope to cut Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table by beating Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
The Citizens returned to winning ways on Wednesday, ending a seven-game winless streak by beating Nottingham Forest 3-0.
Manager Pep Guardiola will expect to see his side pick up another three points at Selhurst Park on Saturday, but the Eagles have beaten City on several occasions in recent years.
Off the pitch, though, it appears that City are eyeing a sensational move for a Liverpool star.
As per CaughtOffside, the Citizens are in talks with the representatives of Trent Alexander-Arnold about a shock deal for the defender.
The England international is currently in the final year of his contract with the Reds, and the report claims that City are one of a number of clubs that have contacted his representatives about the possibility of a free transfer next year.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, has played more than 230 times for his boyhood club having graduated through their youth ranks.
Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a shock move to Man City
He has scored 19 goals and provided a staggering 85 assists in that time, making him one of the most prolific attacking full-backs in world football.
The right-back remains a key player for Arne Slot’s side, but he will soon enter into the final six months of his current deal and could therefore sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club next month.
Spanish sides Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as French champions Paris Saint-Germain, are all said to be in contact with his agents.
The report suggests that the player’s future is still very much undecided at present, with the defender signing a new deal at Anfield still a possibility.
His teammates Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are also both in the final year of their respective contracts.
