Everton's home game with Liverpool was postponed on Saturday
Liverpool may face a lengthy wait to make their final Premier League trip to Goodison Park.
The Reds were set to take on their Merseyside rivals Everton on Saturday lunchtime. But the game was postponed after severe weather caused by Storm Darragh.
A statement from Liverpool explaining the postponement read: "This is due to severe weather and high winds, which have also resulted in severe travel disruption in and around Merseyside.
"Following a Safety Advisory Group meeting this morning at Goodison Park, attended by officials from both clubs, as well as representatives from Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council, it was decided that due to the risk to safety in the local area, and the amber severe wind warning that remains in place until 6am on Sunday, today’s match is postponed on safety grounds.

"We appreciate this will be deeply disappointing for supporters, but the safety of fans, staff and players is of paramount importance."
And while fans will be disappointed, attention will now turn to a potential date for a rearrangement. Fixture organisers face a nightmare fitting the new fixture into an already packed calendar.
The first chance would potentially be on New Years’ Day - with neither Everton nor Liverpool currently scheduled to play. This game would present zero broadcasting issues for TNT Sports, while each team would also have at least a 60-hour break between fixtures - a Premier League directive.
Liverpool face West Ham a few days before, while their following fixture is Manchester United. Everton meanwhile have showdowns with Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth either side of New Year’s Day.

With the FA Cup then getting underway for Premier League sides, there will be even more conditions later in the month. They ironically fall on the shoulders of Liverpool as they prepare to travel to Goodison.
Midweek days of January 7 and 8 would be an option - but only if the Reds do not reach the semi-finals of the League Cup. The same is true of both February 4 and 5.
The next midweek options are either February 11 and 12 or February 18 and 19 - but those dates are dependent on Liverpool automatically qualifying for the next round of the Champions League.
Elsewhere, a weekend fixture could prove difficult. No Premier League fixtures are permitted to play across the weekends of the FA Cup fourth and fifth rounds, as well as the quarter-finals. In order to play across those weekends, special dispensation from the FA would need to be sought - and even then there is no guarantee that both sides are eliminated from the competition.
It could thus mean an extremely long wait for the final Premier League clash between the two sides at Goodison - potentially even after their Anfield meeting on April 2.
