'Unmissable opportunity for both': Two world-class managers really want West Ham job

The West Ham United job could well become available soon, with some world-class manager’s eyeing up the hot-seat currently deployed by Julen Lopetegui.

West Ham are in all sorts of trouble right now, and Julen Lopetegui is the man to blame.

After a board meeting at the London Stadium on Thursday though, Lopetegui was given one more chance by the Hammers owners.

That was a terrible decision if you ask me – it has only delayed the inevitable, and we could well miss out on our key managerial targets in the process.

West Ham are currently sitting in 14th spot in the Premier League table, having taken just 15 points from our opening 14 games.

That’s nowhere near good enough, especially considering how much money Lopetegui spent in the summer.

A change is desperately needed in the Hammers hot-seat if we are to make any kind of progress between now and the end of the season.

West Ham job is attracting two world-class managers

There is no doubt in my mind that Lopetegui will not be in charge of the Hammers come Christmas.

The Spaniard obviously needs a win against Wolves on Monday night, but I think that might not even be enough for him, if the right manager becomes available.

And there are two top tier bosses out there right now who would jump at the chance to manage West Ham.

According to a report from Area Napoli, the ‘great prestige’ of West Ham is attracting both Maurizio Sarri and Massimiliano “Max” Allegri.

It is suggested that the chance to manage the Hammers is an ‘unmissable opportunity for both’.

I would take Sarri or Allegri at the London Stadium in a heartbeat.

The two Italians have completely different styles – Sarri favours an attractive brand of free-flowing football with ball retention a key principle of his system.

Meanwhile, Allegri’s setup is far more rigid, with en emphasis on defensive solidarity.

Both managers have huge charisma and would make major improvements on Julen Lopetegui is currently serving up, if either of them got the West Ham job.

Hopefully the Hammers board go out there and make it happen.
