Phil Jagielka gives wordless reaction to Everton vs Liverpool postponement

Phil Jagielka feels like all of us after the postponement of the Everton vs Liverpool clash, but safety is the most important thing in these situations.

Everton were heading into this one off the back of a thumping 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, with confidence flying high for once, so this has possibly come at the worst time.

The Merseyside derby was officially postponed this morning due to Storm Darragh and the risk of safety for fans and players.

Of course, there’s going to be some disappointed faces, including a fan who flew all the way from Australia, but it will be rescheduled.

There were concerns over the flooding seen at Everton’s new stadium, but that appears to have just overdramatised, as an update from Bramley-Moore proves it’s in pristine condition.

Regardless, Phil Jagielka took to Instagram to offer his view on the postponement.

There are three potential dates that could be used for the postponed Merseyside derby, and they are the gameweek 24, 25 or 33.

This means we could be waiting a long while before we get to see any Merseyside derby action, and the whole situation of both clubs could be different by then.

Phil Jagielka has reacted to the postponement on Instagram, and he’s just as gutted as the fans.

He put a crying face in response to Everton’s announcement.

Phil Jagielka has been hampered by bad weather in the past

Phil Jagielka was making his injury return back in April of 2014, but a reserve game between Bolton Wanderers and Everton’s Under-21s was postponed due to weather.

What made it more frustrating was that Jagielka was looking forward to his first competitive run-out since tearing cruciate ligaments 10 months prior.

However, it wasn’t the wind at that time. Instead, it was a frozen pitch that caused the postponement.

Jagielka won’t have meant any disrespect to safety with his comment; he was just gutted that he couldn’t see what would have been an amazing spectacle at Goodison Park.
