The west of the country has been particularly affected, with other events on Merseyside, including a race day at Aintree, also being postponed.

Now, Manchester United have said their showdown, scheduled for a half-five kick-off at Old Trafford, is under the weather watch.

The clash with Nottingham Forest is still going ahead as planned, but the Red Devils will be keeping the fanbase updated while the bigwigs keep an eye on Mother Nature's mood swings.
