Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to make headlines on and off the pitch this season.
He has gained plaudits for his performances for club and country in recent months and is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world in his position.
Off the pitch, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Alexander-Arnold is wanted by Real Madrid as the Spanish giants aim to snap him up for nothing, as was the case with Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window.
However, if reports are to be believed, Manchester City have emerged as a shock suitor for his signature.

Real Madrid are in the market for a new right-back as Dani Carvajal is out with an ACL injury – which could be hard to recover from in the twilight years of his career.
Manchester City are in a similar boat as they continue to scour the market for Kyle Walker’s heir, with the England international not getting any younger at 34.
A report from Caught Offside claims the Cityzens have positioned themselves to sign Alexander-Arnold, having already held talks with his representatives.
However, the Liverpool defender prefers a move to the Spanish capital if he leaves his boyhood, with a new contract not ruled out at this stage.

The report also states that both PSG and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on Alexander-Arnold, so he won’t be short of suitors if he decides to leave.
Who can replace Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool?
Liverpool’s priority will be to keep Alexander-Arnold but if they reluctantly part ways with him at the end of the season, it remains to be seen how they approach the situation.
Conor Bradley is already at the club and has shown since his debut last season that he is one of the brightest right-back prospects in world football.
However, Liverpool are likely to dip into the market as they’ll be short of options in that position if they opt to go with just Bradley in the case of Alexander-Arnold’s departure.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has been linked with a move to Anfield, with the Dutch international playing a starring role for Xabi Alonso over the past 18 months.
Time will tell what happens with Alexander-Arnold, but his departure will be a massive blow to Arne Slot’s project as a player of his calibre and skillset is almost impossible to replace.
