Storm Darragh has wreaked havoc on the UK's sporting schedule this weekend, leading to the postponement of the Merseyside derby on Saturday morning due to safety concerns. It is the only Premier League match to be off so far, but two Championship matches and three in League One and Two have also been affected by the weather.
The Football Association of Wales had already announced on Friday that all football and rugby games nationwide on Saturday, including Cardiff City versus Watford and Newport County vs Carlisle United, would not happen following advice from the Met Office. Rugby union in England has also been impacted, with the Premiership Women's Rugby match between Bristol Bears Women and Exeter Chiefs Women at Ashton Gate postponed.
Several race meets have also undergone ground inspections, resulting in some cancellations at Aintree and Chepstow. As Storm Darragh continues to batter the country, further updates on various sporting events, including rugby and horse racing, are expected.
