Former Juventus manager Max Allegri is now ‘between West Ham United and Roma’, which could mean bad news for Everton’s new owners the Friedkins.
That’s [according to Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/allegri-tra-west-ham-e-roma-ecco-cosa-sta-succe-67558), who report that the Everton owners could be set for frustration in their search for a new long-term Roma manager.
They explain that Roma vice president Ryan Friedkin is in the Italian capital and has been in Trigoria since yesterday morning. He’s spending time with the team, meeting them and current coach Claudio Ranieri before attending the clash against Lecce.
He will then hold internal strategy meetings with the club’s management to understand how they will move in the January transfer window and start to plan for Ranieri’s successor. The Italian coach is set to be a part of the selection process on that.
No definitive name has been put forward yet, but Allegri is considered an ‘authoritative candidate’ for the position. His name is circulating at the club but there’s been no direct contact with him. It is Ranieri who put him forward.
The problem is that there is also ‘London calling’ as West Ham are also keen on him as Julen Lopetegui’s successor.
The Spanish coach is clinging on to his job at this moment in time but a defeat this weekend to fellow strugglers Wolves could seal his fate and Allegri is a name being touted. The Italian also ‘sees an experience abroad’ in his future, which could give West Ham their chance to get him.
That would be bad news for Roma, who are being encouraged to move by Ranieri. It’s up to Everton’s new owners to ensure they don’t miss out, but that may require any talks with the Hammers failing first.
