Tottenham have been dealt a big blow following Ben Davies’ hamstring injury
Tottenham Hotspur dropped to 10th in the Premier League table after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Thursday evening.
The Lilywhites were lucky to lose with just a one-goal margin, as Bournemouth missed a glut of gilt-edged chances while Fraser Forster made some crucial saves in both halves. There were nowhere near good enough at the Vitality Stadium, with boss Ange Postecoglou even facing the brunt of the travelling Tottenham fans after the full-time whistle.
To add to their misery, Ben Davies suffered a hamstring injury in the second half against the Cherries. He was forced off after the hour mark and replaced by Pedro Porro. Ange Postecoglou admitted in the post-match presser that the Welshman will be sidelined for some time now, thus, deepening Spurs’ defensive injury crisis.

Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham has described Ben Davies’ injury setback as “unbelievable”. As a result, he isn’t confident about Tottenham’s chances heading into the London derby against Chelsea on Sunday.
“We just didn’t turn up at all against Bournemouth,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“There was nothing from the midfield, we were completely overrun, and we had no control of the game whatsoever. I questioned to myself, will Bournemouth get an easier three points this season? Probably not.
“It was a really disappointing evening, topped off with the injury to Davies, which was just unbelievable. That is a big concern as we could now be without three of our first-choice centre-backs against Chelsea on Sunday. As a result, that could be a very bad day.”

Injuries have been really cruel to Tottenham this season, especially in defence. First-choice central defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are still not fit. Davies is the latest casualty at the back, suffering a hamstring injury in midweek that sidelines him for the best part of the busy fixture schedule and leaves Big Ange with Radu Dragusin as the only fit centre-back at his disposal.
It is a big blow as Davies has stepped up and performed whenever the team has been in trouble this season. The Wales international’s unavailability means Big Ange is set to turn to young Archie Gray to fill in at centre-back alongside Dragusin.

That will not be an ideal scenario, particularly against a Chelsea side flying this season and heading across the capital off the back of a 5-1 thrashing of basement club Southampton. Big Ange’s side will be required to be at their best in every department to stand a chance of beating Enzo Maresca’s in-form side.
