Everton were supposed to play Liverpool on Saturday, but with the match now postponed, the fixture will now likely be played at night on another day, according to Ian Croll.

The Reach journalist has “mixed emotions” about the cancellation of the Merseyside derby on 7 December but is excited about the “high probability” of it being played under the lights at Goodison.

Croll wrote on his personal X account [7 December]: “Mixed emotions over today’s Merseyside Derby postponement. However, there is a high probability it will now move to a night game. Goodison Park under the lights, exactly how it should be.”

Storm Darragh has led to severe weather conditions in the UK, with Red, Amber and Yellow warnings in force across the region.

While the Blues fans might be disappointed at the game being called off, considering the safety concerns due to the storm was the right decision.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Goodison Park was set to host its final Premier League Merseyside derby on 7 December, but it looks like the supporters will have to wait.

The Toffees already have a tough run of fixtures this month, and it remains to be seen what day the clash with the Reds will now take place.

Everton are in and around the relegation zone at the moment, and barring the Liverpool fixture, they have to go up against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in the coming weeks.

Sean Dyche managed to buy himself more time with the 4-0 win over Wolves on 4 December, but the Englishman’s future will be up in the air if the Toffees suffer defeat in their upcoming games.

Considering the quality of the opposition the Blues are set to face, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them not pick up any points, which could be a nail in the coffin for Dyche.

The 53-year-old has managed to keep his place in the Goodison dugout so far, but the Merseyside outfit’s supporters will not tolerate any more negative displays from the team.
