West Ham have confirmed Michail Antonio has been involved in a car accident as the club sent thoughts and prayers in a statement.
The Hammers took to social media to release a statement on the 34-year-old and have told supporters of the club and those in the wider football community that they will issue an update in due course. It reads: "West Ham United can confirm striker Michail Antonio has today been involved in a road traffic accident. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the Club are with Michail, his family and friends at this time. The club will issue an update in due course."
Football fans and clubs have shown their support as they left comments to send well wishes for both the attacker and his family. Southampton wrote: "The thoughts of everyone associated with #SaintsFC are with Michail, his family and everyone at West Ham. Ipswich Town added: "We're sending our best wishes to Michail, his family and friends."
One fan posted: "Sending prays to Michail Antonio and his family." Another wrote: "Sending prayers to Michail Antonio and his loved ones." A further person added: "Praying for Michail."
