Crystal Palace 2-2 Man City Stats: Champions Drop Points Yet Again

Manchester City’s slump rumbles on with another disappointing results. Look back on the game with the best facts and Opta data in our Crystal Palace vs Man City stats page.

Manchester City dropped points for the fifth time in six Premier League games as they slumped to a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

It might have been even worse as City twice came from behind and even had a man sent off in the latter stages, but they did enough to leave Selhurst Park with a point.

Daniel Muñoz put Palace in front in just the fourth minute with a clinical finish following an incisive Will Hughes pass, quickly giving City an uphill task.

An Erling Haaland header with half an hour played levelled matters, the Norwegian ending a run of three Premier League games without a goal.

But Palace were back in front again early in the second half, Maxence Lacroix heading home from close range to give Hughes his second assist of the day – and the season.

Rico Lewis salvaged a point with a disguised finish in the 68th minute, and although the youngster became the youngest City player to be sent off in the Premier League under Pep Guardiola (20 years, 16 days) due to a harsh second yellow, Palace couldn’t make their numerical advantage tell.

Nevertheless, the result marked a continuation of City’s dismal run of form. They’ve now managed just a single victory in six league games – across all competitions, that becomes one victory in nine.

As a result, they are left eight points leaders Liverpool and have played a game more after the Reds had their trip to Everton postponed earlier on Saturday due to inclement weather.
