Everton and Liverpool will be squaring off later this season after the Merseyside derby on Saturday was called off.
The Independent reported on 7 December after Storm Darragh ensured that the game at Goodison Park would not be going ahead, that the authorities are facing a “headache” to find a convenient date to reschedule the game.
Given Liverpool’s participation in the Champions League and Carabao Cup and both teams scheduled for FA Cup clashes, February appears to be the earliest the game can be held, per the Liverpool Echo.
Everton must build momentum and go into the next Liverpool game in better shape
The cancellation of the Merseyside derby due to Storm Darragh was a necessary step to ensure the safety of fans, players and staff, despite the disruption it caused to the club’s schedule.
With its potential for extreme weather conditions, the storm posed significant risks, making the match’s postponement an imperative decision.

However, the delay in making this decision is unfortunate, as an earlier cancellation could have allowed for better planning around rescheduling.
The likely rescheduling to February, due to both teams’ commitments in other competitions, presents an opportunity for Everton.
With time on their hands, the Toffees can focus on improving their form, potentially entering the rescheduled derby with renewed vigour and confidence.
