Alexis Mac Allister Suspension Update

Alexis Mac Allister became the first Liverpool player to hit five yellow cards in the league and receive a suspension. The last one came only 20 minutes into the match against Newcastle United in midweek.

Originally, he was meant to miss Saturday’s early kick-off Merseyside Derby. However, the storm that blew through the area postponed the match. Instead, he will miss the game against Fulham.

That isn’t the end of his suspension woes, however. Mac Allister also accrued three yellow cards in Europe, earning him another ban. This one will be against Girona on Tuesday.

While he will be missed in the squad, sitting out the Fulham game instead of the more volatile Everton match is a better result for Arne Slot. Also the Reds currently sit two points ahead of Inter on top of the Champions League table, so the game against Girona is not a huge miss.

Ultimately, giving the Argentinian, who has arguably been one of their best players this season, a week off amidst this heavy December onslaught of games might work out in their favor. Either way, there is plenty of talent on the team to make up for his absence.
