Rodrygo Misses Real Madrid’s Girona Clash Due to Injury

Real Madrid will face Girona tonight at 9:00 PM without the services of Rodrygo Goes, as the Brazilian winger has been ruled out due to injury. Rodrygo, who had recently made his return to action after a spell on the sidelines, had featured in the matches against Athletic Club and Getafe, but will now miss at least one more game.

Rodrygo will not travel with the team today and will miss the match against Girona with some discomfort on his left leg.

The full extent of the injury is still unclear, but reports in Spain suggest that Rodrygo could be sidelined for up to four matches. The 23-year-old is currently undergoing tests to determine the precise nature of the issue, which is reportedly related to muscle discomfort in his left leg, according to Managing Madrid’s Lucas Navarrete. With tonight’s La Liga clash against Girona confirmed to be out of reach for Rodrygo, his focus will now be on recovering in time for Real Madrid’s crucial Champions League tie against Atalanta in Bergamo on Tuesday, December 10.

Rodrygo’s absence adds to the growing injury list for the Madrid side, which is already without Gonzalo García Torres and Chema Andrés, both of whom were injured during Real Madrid Castilla’s recent match. In response to the multiple absences, 17-year-old Daniel Yáñez from the Juvenil A team has been called up to the first-team squad and is now travelling with the senior players ahead of the game.

In an official statement, Real Madrid confirmed the news: “Real Madrid travels to Girona to face the 16th round of La Liga tonight at Montilivi with the last-minute absences of Rodrygo, Gonzalo, and Chema. In their place, Yáñez is included in the squad.”
