‘Not happy’: Bernardo Silva issues scathing verdict on Man City’s latest performance after…

Manchester City couldn’t make it two wins out of two in their latest Premier League match as they drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Three days after their confidence-boosting 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, City had to come from behind twice to pick up a point in South London.

Not for the first time this season, the Blues found themselves 1-0 down in the early minutes of the game.

Erling Haaland then scored the Manchester club’s first equaliser of the game after 31 minutes.

Palace then got themselves ahead through Maxence Lacroix before Rico Lewis scored the away side’s second goal of the afternoon.

With the points being shared at the end of the match, one figure from Pep Guardiola’s side faced the media to share what ended up being a scathing verdict on his side’s efforts against Palace and their general situation at the moment.

Bernardo Silva lets loose after Man City draw with Crystal Palace

Speaking to BBC Sport after the full-time whistle, Bernardo Silva was not shy when it came to airing his frustration about this latest result and the performance of himself and his teammates.

He said: “With Man City, it’s always two points lost. One point is better than zero but we’re not happy at the moment.

“We know our situation with injuries. Coming to Crystal Palace is never easy but we have to do better. When I finish a game and I get a point I’m not happy. It’s not the way we built this team, it’s not our standard.

“We know how tough it is to come here when we have all our squad and we’re in top form.

“We have to do better, we have to react better to the second balls. We have to give them less opportunities on set pieces. We created a few chances and that wasn’t our problem because we scored two. We’re in December. We’d like to be in a different position.

“If we recover our players quickly we can always do it. But right now our concern is a different one. If we’re fourth or fifth we have to look at winning the next game.

“The last month and a half have not been good enough.”

City missed the chance to build on Forest win

Prior to their midweek win over Forest, the Blues had lost their four previous league matches, conceding 10 goals in the process.

Now that they failed to grab a second win in a row against Palace, this has seen the champions miss a great opportunity to get themselves back on track and pick up more steam following their dismal run of form across November.

In terms of his own individual performance, Silva grabbed the assist for City’s second goal but managed to give possession away 19 times in total.

He also lost all four ground duels he was involved in and made an error that led to Palace having a shot at goal.

Taking all of that on board, it’s not hard to see why Silva feels frustrated at the moment, which is likely how the City fanbase are feeling too.
