Tottenham host Chelsea on Sunday in what should be an absolutely brilliant game in the Premier League.
Chelsea and Tottenham always have incredible battles whenever they meet. The Battle of the Bridge in 2015 was iconic, Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel’s handshake in 2022 was infamous, while Chelsea’s 4-1 win against Spurs last season was remarkable.
Heading into this game, both teams are experiencing differing fortunes.
The Blues are second in the Premier League, and Chelsea are potential title contenders.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have failed to win their last two league games, and there’s an argument to make that Ange Postecoglou should be sacked.
Spurs are in poor form right now, but it was only two weeks ago that they were winning 4-0 away at Manchester City, so predicting any game involving Tottenham right now is risky business.
As ever, Chris Sutton has put his neck on the line in his BBC column and had a go at predicting how this match will go.

Chris Sutton predicts Tottenham vs Chelsea
Sutton shared his verdict on how this match will pan out.
The pundit says that Chelsea will win this game, and he reckons the Blues could take Tottenham apart, predicting a 3-1 away win.
“Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou got a fair bit of flak after going over to speak to some Spurs fans following Thursday’s defeat by Bournemouth,” Sutton wrote.
“Football is a fickle business sometimes. It wasn’t a good result, but you only have to go back a week or two and they were cheering Ange off after winning at Etihad Stadium.
“Usually I would expect a reaction from Spurs but they are so unpredictable that I don’t know what will happen. They could win this game 4-0 like they did against Manchester City, or lose it by the same scoreline.
“So, I am going with Chelsea here. While I do wonder about their experience, I think Enzo Maresca’s side are title contenders even if he insists they aren’t.”
“They are playing with real confidence at the moment and look completely different to the team they were last season. Nicolas Jackson is an example of how much they have improved and, after being rested against Southampton in midweek, he will be refreshed and ready to go.
“This was the game last year where Spurs went down to nine men and lost 4-1. If there is any element of doubt from their players in their style of play, then Chelsea could take them apart again this time too.”
Chelsea’s record vs Tottenham
Sutton reckons Chelsea will beat Spurs here, and the history suggests that he may be right.
Indeed, while Chelsea haven’t had the best of times over the past few years, one thing they have maintained is an incredible record against Tottenham.
Chelsea have lost just one of their last ten matches against Tottenham in all competitions, and that run does look likely to continue this weekend.
Season Chelsea’s last 10 games vs Tottenham
2023/24 Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham
2023/24 Tottenham 1-4 Chelsea
2022/23 Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea
2022/23 Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham
2021/22 Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham
2021/22 Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea
2021/22 Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham
2021/22 Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea
2020/21 Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea
2020/21 Chelsea 0-0 Tottenham
Spurs head into this game off the back of two very disappointing results, and while Tottenham are a team who can just turn it on out of nowhere, they do head into this match as underdogs.
After Liverpool’s game against Everton was postponed, Chelsea can close the gap at the top of the table to just four points with a win here, and, from that point, Enzo Maresca will have no choice but to accept his team are title contenders.
