Marco Reus makes claim about Anfield's atmosphere

Anfield is renowned for its breathtaking atmosphere and passionate fanbase. The stadium has been the stage for countless historic footballing moments, and its reputation as a fortress often leaves players and fans alike in awe.

The noise of the crowd has also been used by opposition teams to prepare for their visit to L4. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was famously shown to use speakers to prepare his side to face the Reds a few seasons ago.

Former Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, who will play for LA Galaxy in Saturday's MLS Cup final, says he still vividly remembers the incredible atmosphere at Anfield—eight years after experiencing it during a dramatic European showdown against Liverpool.

Reus was a part of the side which lost 4-3 in a thrilling Europa League quarter final back in April 2016. The match was a landmark moment in the early days of Jurgen Klopp's tenure at Liverpool, and it clearly left a lasting impression on Reus who is now playing for the Galaxy after 12 years at BVB.

Reflecting on that unforgettable night, the 35-year-old, who many fans had hoped would move to Liverpool at the time, revealed his admiration for the Reds. He admitted that Liverpool, alongside Leeds United, remains one of his favourite Premier League teams, largely due to the incredible atmosphere created that night.

"I like Liverpool" says Reus. "I played there once and it was an amazing atmosphere. The atmosphere between the players and the fans as well."

When asked about the bond with his former boss Klopp, Reus added: "And that, 100%." Reus scored 170 goals in 429 games and many thought Klopp becoming Liverpool manager in 2015 would be enough to lure Reus to Merseyside.

The rumours and fan demands to "sign Reus" were so intense that they even caught the attention of Liverpool owner John Henry.

He even took to Twitter to acknowledge the outcry for the club to secure the German star’s signature
