Misa started on goal. Rocío and Lakrar as the CB duo were joined by Shei and Olga as fullbacks in defense. Leupolz and Toletti were the pivot duo. Eva Navarro and Linda Caicedo on wings, with Bruun and Redondo as the striker duo up front. It was a 4-4-2 on paper with Bruun being the option of acting as a #10 behind Redondo to transition into 4-2-3-1.

The game started in a very exciting matter and looked exciting at first. First Real Madrid had a chance in 3' with Linda leading the action from the left-hand side, then Paula Partido leading Sevilla's action a minute later. Linda's attempt at a cross didn't manage to find anyone and Sevilla's chance ended as a shot on target. Partido was up against Olga in the first half and won a lot of duels there.

Even though the start of the game looked promising, it ended up getting sentenced early, with the first 3 goals being scored inside of 10 minutes, starting at 19’ with Sheila’s goal, and the fourth in the added minutes of the first half.

19’: GOAL (1-0) by Sheila García: it was a quick combination of Shei-Bruun-Redondo, Shei then ran toward the box to get Redondo’s ball and shot on the first touch there.

25’: GOAL (2-0) by Sandie Toletti: the action was going on around Sevilla’s box, starting with Linda who was trapped and held back from running inside. However, she found an opening to pass short to Redondo, who then passed to Toletti. She pushed it forward to Bruun, but after not finding a place to shoot, she turned around to pass it back to Toletti. the midfielder chipped the ball inside.

29’: GOAL (3-0) by Linda Caicedo: after Redondo’s pass, Linda got the ball and got surrounded by Sevilla’s defenders. She dribbled in front of them to make space for herself to shoot and at the first chance she got, she did and her shot found the net. Another assist by Redondo.

45+2’: GOAL (4-0) by Signe Bruun: Alba Redondo was pressing Sevilla’s backline and her high press made Sullastres kick the ball out in panic which Bruun took advantage of to recover the ball and shoot the ball from a distance.

Both strikers had 2 direct contributions, Bruun with a goal and assist and Redondo with 2 assists. It was a perfect time to start these two together and build synergy between the starting strikers. Alberto Toril made a double halftime substitution, bringing on Camacho and Oihane for Bruun and Olga - important 45-minute rest for Olga, and important minutes for Carla Camacho.

The young striker was eager to get on the scoreline, but her attempts weren’t successful. She tried to do so by entering the box from both sides, and also tried to receive some crosses from wingers which never found her.

There was only one shot on target from the white club in the second half in the 11 attempted shots, while in the first half, 9 out of 11 attempted shots ended up on target, and 4 of those in the net. It was a dull first half for Las Blancas, while the guests had a much brighter half than the first. They managed 7 shots, as opposed to only 2 from the first 45 minutes, and the only shot on target in the second half ended in a goal scored in 73’.

The goal was from a mistake by Lakrar who tried to send the ball out for a corner, but it hit the post. Alba López got the rebound and pushed it in for 4-1.

There were two characteristics from the second half. One was that the manager used up all the changes in the 57’ when he made a triple substitution after the double at halftime. Only a few minutes before the second substitution window came, there was an injury scare for Lakrar, and finishing the changes 33 minutes before the game’s end didn’t look like a good idea. The game ended with no injuries for Real Madrid, but it’s always important to keep in mind the game management.

The second characteristic was the constant switch-up of both the fullbacks and wingers throughout the entire second half. While Linda and Navarro were already switching sides from the beginning of the game, Oihane and Shei then followed them into this pattern. Oihane mainly played as rightback while Shei moved to the left side in the second half. However, there was a period when the two would switch and then experiment with different wingers on the current sides they played on.

Three points to start off the last month of 2024. Unable to get a cleansheet, but a first-half goleada sentenced the game early.
