The Spanish giants are considering this key Old Trafford star in their 2025 transfer plans.

The Red Devils made five new signings over the summer under Erik ten Hag and sold eight players, including Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Next year will also bring some interesting narratives, as six players are approaching the end of their contracts and others have also been linked with exits.

Amorim has already shortlisted some players for United to consider in 2025, and one of the main names is from his former side Sporting CP. Despite recent contrasting reports, the manager ‘does want a reunion’ with some of his old players, and Viktor Gyökeres has emerged as one of the leading targets.

According to a recent report, Amorim is ‘ready to do anything’ to bring the striker to Old Trafford. The boss is said to have offered Gyökeres a ‘juicy contract’ and ‘promised him the dream’ of playing Champions League football at the Theatre of Dreams.

While bringing in new attacking options has become something of a priority, there are talks surrounding their plans for United’s defence. Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelöf are all out of contract next summer but Lisandro Martínez is now also attracting attention.

According to TBR Football, Real Madrid are ‘paying close attention’ to the 26-year-old’s current situation at United. Los Blancos are scouring the market for a new centre-back and are mainly looking at options in the Premier League.

Madrid have been monitoring Martínez through the season so far and he has made it onto their shortlist for candidates next year. While the Argentina international is one of the names on their radar, Arsenal’s William Saliba, and Cristian Romero of Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be of interest.

Martínez is under contract until 2027, with an option to extend for a further year, and he is currently valued at €50 million (£41m) by Transfermarkt. However, as things stand, there are no suggestions that United would be looking to cash in on the centre-back.

If all those approaching the end of their contracts fail to sign a new deal, three central defenders will leave Old Trafford for free next summer. This would leave Amorim with only three senior players in that position and zero room to let any more leave unless they splash the cash in 2025.
