Reggae Boy and West Ham striker Michail Antonio injured in accident

Reggae Boy and West Ham striker Michail Antonio is in hospital nursing injuries sustained in a road traffic accident today in the Essex area in London.

In a statement, the club said he is in stable condition.

“Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital,” said the statement.

“At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course,” it continued.

The club said the thoughts and prayers of everyone at the club are with Michail, his family and friends at this time

Meanwhile, Steve McLaren, head coach of the Reggae Boyz, also wished the striker a speedy recovery.

"On behalf of the entire group of players, support staff and technical staff, I would like to wish Michail a safe and speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with him at this time," McLaren shared.

The 34-year-old, who joined West Ham in 2015, is the club's all-time leading goal scorer having scored 83 goals in 322 matches.
