West Ham co-owner leads Antonio well-wishers, club issues big update and police make appeal

A West Ham co-owner has lead the tributes to Michail Antonio as the football world rallies around the striker following his serious car crash.

The Hammers confirmed that distressing images on social media today were indeed true – star Michail Antonio had been in a car crash.

Images on social media reportedly showed the silver Ferrari belonging to West Ham’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer seriously damaged.

Reports had claimed Antonio had been airlifted to hospital as a result of the smash.

Such is the nature of social media, West Ham fans were unsure whether the rumours had any substance.

Unfortunately they did as West Ham confirmed the worrying Antonio news and stated their ‘thoughts and prayers were with his family and friends’.

While incidents like this put football sharply into perspective, the beauty of the game is that it comes together in these moments.

Social media has been awash with tributes and messages to the stricken Hammers star.

Although he remains under close supervision at a central London hospital.

But West Ham also urged the press to give the striker and his family some privacy.
