Manchester City's Saturday went from bad to worse when their flight home from the disappointing 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace was reportedly cancelled.

The Premier League champions endured a tough afternoon at Selhurst Park - twice coming from behind to grab a point and finishing the game with ten men after the sending off of Rico Lewis as Storm Darragh raged around them.

But just when they thought they had braved the elements - and a resolute Palace side - and could enjoy a luxurious Etihad flight back to Manchester, they were hit by the news that they were relegated to the bus, according to Manchester Evening News.

So, instead of a speedy hour-long journey by air, the team could look forward to a 4.5 hour crawl up the motorway.

The distrupted journey will take away precious recovery time for Pep Guardiola's squad ahead of a vital week for the club.

First, City travel to Turin to face Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday. City are 17th in the Champions League table and in desperate need of points to avoid a humiliatingly early exit from the competition.
