Everton defender Michael Keane is in demand from clubs in Italy, according to the i.

The news outlet reported on 6 December that a summer exodus at the club is “inevitable” in the summer with Dominic Calvert-Lewin also linked with the exit door.

With Keane’s contract expiring in the summer, the club do not want him to go for free, meaning a January exit may be on the cards.

Everton must sell Michael Keane in the January transfer window

The Toffees must get whatever they can from Keane, who is already 31, in the January transfer window.

They paid big money for Jake O’Brien and they surely did not view him as the fourth-choice centre-back while signing him.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Whatever Keane leaves for can be either reinvested in a young up-and-coming defender, pushing O’Brien up the pecking order, or bringing in the finished product on loan.

While James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite have been solid as a pair in the past, this season, it’s been a completely different story.

Having someone pushing for a spot in the playing eleven will help elevate their game and that’s what Sean Dyche will want.

It also remains to be seen what clubs in Italy are willing to offer to sign Keane as he has played decently this season.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche was “furious” at a Toffees player even though he made the headlines for the right reasons v Wolves.
