Manchester City took on Crystal Palace in their latest Premier League match.
After losing four league games in a row, City managed to get back to winning ways on Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
For their latest league outing, Pep Guardiola’s side walked away from Selhurst Park with a 2-2 scoreline, giving them their third draw of the campaign.
The Blues went behind twice with a goal conceded and scored in each half, ultimately seeing the Manchester club miss out on the chance to pick up what would have been a second consecutive victory for the first time since October.
Once the final whistle blew in South London, a pundit and former City player shared his assessment of the match, naming who he considered to be the best player in Guardiola’s side on this occasion.

Shay Given names Man City’s ‘best player’ in Crystal Palace draw
While covering the game on BBC Radio 5 Live (via BBC Sport), Shay Given said this at full-time on what he saw from both sides at Selhurst Park.

He said: “Man City were frustrating, a little bit slow at times. Crystal Palace sat quite deep but City were too slow, they didn’t penetrate.
“Rico Lewis was probably the best player then he gets himself sent off. Palace were good value for a draw. It’s just not all alright in the Man City camp.”
A mixed day for Lewis
After starting on the bench and having a second-half cameo in midweek against Forest, Lewis found himself back in the starting XI this time around – getting deployed in the left-back position.
With 68 minutes on the clock, the 20-year-old scored City’s second equaliser of the afternoon which ultimately gave the away side their point.
18 minutes later, Lewis was given a second yellow card for a challenge on Palace defender Trevoh Chalobah – which now means that he’ll be unavailable for next weekend’s league clash against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
This makes it safe to say that Lewis had a very mixed afternoon at Selhurst Park.
From the City manager’s point of view, Guardiola said he was “so proud” of his players for showing the spirit to fight back and walk away with a point despite having numerous figures in the squad out injured.
However, the Catalan will presumably be peeved by the fact that he won’t have Lewis available for the United match, especially since City had Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji out injured for this match at Palace.
