Former Iowa State basketball standout and current NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton is returning to Hilton Coliseum this season.
When the Cyclones host Arizona on March 1 at 8:00 p.m. at an already sold-out Hilton Coliseum, Haliburton will have a banner dropped celebrating his 2024 Olympic gold medal with Team USA this summer. He is the eighth Cyclone to win an Olympic gold and the first in men's basketball.
Haliburton is the first two-time NBA All-Star in Iowa State history, and was one of five former Iowa State players to play in the Paris Olympics this summer, which is the second-most of any program in the country.
The guard played an off-the-bench role for Team USA on its way to beating France in the gold medal game.
Now in his fifth NBA season, and third with the Indiana Pacers, Haliburton is averaged 14.6 points with 5.0 rebounds and 6.6 rebounds through the first five games of the NBA season. A year ago he was the NBA's assist champion, helping the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals where they fell to the Boston Celtics.
In two seasons at Iowa State, Haliburton averaged 10.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists a game while being named a 2019-20 All-Big 12 selection. He was taken with the No. 12 overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2020 NBA Draft.
