Report: Big Mohamed Salah contract update as 'influential members' at Liverpool make one key decision

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future continues to be up in the air.

The Egypt international has been a Red for over seven years now, and he has been their best player. He has won several games on his own and will definitely go down as a Liverpool legend.

Salah, like Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, has entered the final year of his contract, and there is a chance he could leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

Now, an update has emerged about Salah’s situation at the club.

Liverpool are ‘edging closer’ to offering Mohamed Salah a new contract

Salah is one of Liverpool’s most important players.

The Egyptian has proven time and time again that he is one of the best players in the world, and even at 32 years of age, he is producing incredible numbers.

Since the start of the 2024/25 season, Salah has scored 15 goals and provided 12 assists in 21 appearances in all competitions.

That is a ridiculous return for a wide player, and it just shows that Liverpool would be silly to let him walk away for nothing in the summer.

GiveMeSport have revealed that ‘influential members’ of the Reds hierarchy have now decided that they cannot let Salah leave the club after such a good start to the season.

It has been claimed that a plan has been put in place to offer Salah fresh terms that would meet his demands and convince him to extend his stay at the club.

The report further adds that “Fenway Sports Group have conceded it is becoming almost impossible to consider anything other than handing Salah a contract which matches his demands as his overall value to the team has been emphasised thanks to his high performance levels.”

FSG also think it would be very difficult for Liverpool to find a suitable replacement for Salah if they lose him in the summer.

The one key reason why Liverpool are right to keep Salah

Salah’s age is definitely the reason why Liverpool haven’t offered him a new contract yet.

The Egyptian will turn 33 in the summer, and there have been concerns over whether he can continue to deliver at the highest level in the Premier League and Champions League for two or three more years.

Salah’s form this season eases those worries, but we think the biggest reason why Liverpool have decided to offer him a new deal is because there’s nobody who can replace him.

The only two other left-footed right-wingers in world football who can get close to Salah are Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.

Liverpool don’t stand a chance in signing either of them, so the best option right now would be to keep Salah and hope they can find his successor in the next year or two.
