Forgotten star and youngsters - Three things spotted in Arsenal training ahead of Fulham

Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they look to make it four league wins in a row when they travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham (2pm kick-off).

Mikel Arteta’s men have had a positive week, with last Saturday’s convincing 5-2 win over West Ham United followed by a 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Wednesday night. Arsenal took advantage of their dominance from set-pieces with Jurrien Timber and William Saliba scoring in the second half.

The Gunners now have the chance to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool. Arne Slot’s men are not in action this weekend following the postponement of the Merseyside derby due to Storm Darragh.

It means that Arsenal will close the gap to four points if they can pick up a win against Fulham. Ahead of the match Arteta has been working on the training pitch with his squad.

Here’s a look at just some of the things spotted from images released by the club.

Forgotten star included

Kieran Tierney is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal so far this season, but continues to build up his fitness in training as he makes his comeback from injury. The Scotland international has been included on the bench for the last three games in all competitions, but is yet to make it onto the pitch as a substitute.

He will therefore be concentrating on trying to impress Arteta in training, as well as continuing to build up his fitness. Images show him walking out onto the training pitch alongside Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard at the start of training.

Spirits high

It’s no surprise, but images show a lot of smiling as the Arsenal squad prepare for the clash against Fulham. The Gunners have refound their form in the Premier League following a slight blip earlier in the season.

As they make their way out onto the training pitch, players pose with a big smile for the camera. The smiles continue as they get to work - showing the squad are clearly enjoying the session.

Youngsters involved

A quick turnaround between midweek games and weekend games means that Arteta could look to utilise some of the younger members of his Arsenal squad to manage the minutes. And there’s a few pictured in training as they look to impress the Arsenal head coach.

Among those spotted are 19-year-old defender Maldini Kacurri and 21-year-old forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji. Ethan Nwaneri was also among those training as he fights for a space in the starting line up.
