Jamie Carragher has clear stance on idea of Jurgen Klopp returning to Liverpool

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has shared his perspective on whether or not he believes Jurgen Klopp should return to the club at some point in the future.

Klopp left Liverpool supporters stunned and heartbroken earlier this year with the announcement that he was going to leave the club at the end of the 2023/24 season. The German boss stepped down in May after almost nine seasons in charge.

Finding a replacement for the German boss was bound to be a difficult task. However, his replacement Arne Slot has had a fantastic start to life on Merseyside with his side currently sitting top at both the Premier League and Champions League tables.

In a question and answer session with the Telegraph, Carragher was asked whether or not he wished if Klopp was still in charge: The simple answer is no" says Carragher. "Arne Slot is doing all right, isn’t he?

"Obviously, every Liverpool fan was nervous going into this season but look at where the team is and the subtle changes that have been made. Now it looks like a great decision by all parties.

"Liverpool’s great start to this season has a lot to do with Klopp and the team he built and left behind – Slot recognises that – but no-one wants to go back now. Everyone is excited about what is to come."

Jurgen Klopp's football career is set to resume in January next year after it was confirmed that he will join Red Bull as its Global Head of Soccer.

Klopp signed a long-term contract with Red Bull and will start his new job on January 1. Red Bull owns five football teams, with three high-profile ones in RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Salzburg, and in his new role, Klopp will advise them on all kinds of football matters, from coaching and playing philosophies to player development and recruitment.

Liverpool.com says: While Klopp stepping down was devastating for Reds fans, they can't have wished for a better replacement than Arne Slot. The Dutchman has certainly settled into life on Merseyside and it is turning out to be an exciting season so far.
