It was a frustrating evening at Old Trafford as Manchester United were beaten 3-2 by Nottingham Forest despite some brilliant moments.
It was one of those nights for Ruben Amorim on Saturday.
The kind of performance that was deserving of so much more and yet somehow Manchester United ended up losing after a series of Rasmus Hojlund labelled “irritating goals”.
It was the 7/10 Hojlund who opened the scoring for United, equalising in the 18th minute. Then the other side of two Forest goals, Bruno Fernandes made it 3-2 which was the scoreline United ended up losing by.
The two United goals were well worked, but ultimately it was the three goals conceded that gave Amorim’s attacking unit a slim chance of pulling off a comeback.
Following the game on MUTV, it was discussed what would have left Amorim more frustrated than anything.

Ben Thornley says individual errors will frustrate Ruben Amorim
Amorim labelled the game a ‘tough’ outing following the match, but we expect there will have been moments that pleased him. But this won’t have been defensively.
Speaking on MUTV after the game, pundit and commentator Ben Thornley spoke about what an annoying result it was, before highlighting what will have Amorim most upset.
MORE UNITED STORIES
“It is frustrating because we’ve conceded three goals at home, one from a set piece and two others due to individual errors, that will be the most frustrating thing for the manager.
“We need to find a way to eradicate that because it can’t go on that we keep conceding.”
The painful part about the result is without individual errors defensively Forest never win that game as they failed to create one good chance in the game as shown by the expected goals with United having 1.74, and Forest only 0.78.
Manchester United fans must remain patient
It is two games on the bounce United have lost, however, in neither game has it been the fault of Amorim or his system which makes it frustrating.
However, so early into a drastic change of system, we were always going to see teething problems and really there are few expectations for this season, but rather it is about getting the team to play well consistently in the coming months.
Due to this, United fans need to remain patient and not disregard all the good Amorim has been doing during the first few weeks of his reign – this was even the case after beating Everton 4-0, results right now are little indication of the long-term United direction.
There shouldn’t be a focus on Amorim taking off Bruno or other decisions as the head coach is simply juggling players around during the busiest time of the season.
