Jamie Carragher has confirmed he has no intention of going into coaching in the future as he loves his job as a pundit too much.
The Liverpool defender called time on his playing career in 2013, retiring after making more than 700 appearances for the Reds, and began his career in the media immediately, signing a deal with Sky Sports for the 2013-14 season.
Carragher was asked in a Telegraph Q&A whether he harbored any ambition of going into coaching in the future and gave an emphatic response.
"I did my coaching badges at the end of my career, but the honest answer is no," Carragher said. "You think about it when you know you have to stop playing, but I never had the option. Basically, no-one ever offered me a coaching job!
"As soon as I finished playing I got the best gig I could imagine by joining Monday Night Football and I love that too much to think about trying management. The ship has sailed now. I won’t be doing a Gary Neville!"
Neville infamously stepped away from his punditry career in 2015 to take charge of Valencia but lasted just four months in the role before being sacked having presided over just three league wins in 16 matches.
Another fan who entered a submission for the Carragher in the Q&A jokingly asked the former England defender for some advice, stating: "Help me, I’m starting to like Neville and [Roy] Keane!"
In good spirits, Carragher responded: "That’s been a worry of mine for a long time. Gary and Roy are good lads, they like a laugh and they’re entertaining. Even us Scousers like to listen to them sometimes. You don’t need a cure. Just embrace it!"
