Michail Antonio had to be cut out of his Ferrari
Michail Antonio was stuck inside his smashed Ferrari for nearly an hour after spinning off the road in a terrifying crash.
The West Ham striker was taken to a central London hospital on Saturday afternoon after crashing his Ferrari in Theydon Bois, Essex. The club said Antonio was in a stable condition and was “conscious and communicating” following the incident.
Essex Police were called at 12.50pm on Saturday to Coppice Row, on the edge of Epping Forest, to reports of a single vehicle collision. Photos showed Antonio’s wrecked silver Ferrari FF with the driver’s side of the vehicle completely destroyed after smashing into a tree.
The car, which retails for £260,000 and has a top speed of 208mph, had the right wing ripped off, the door missing and the windscreen demolished. The damage was so severe that it took emergency services until 1.45pm – some 55 minutes – to extract him from the wreckage and airlift him to hospital.

“There were other cars stopped and people were on their phones calling 999,” an onlooker told The Sun. “It was awful weather, rain, wind and very slippery on the road. It didn’t look like another car was involved. It looked like it had spun out of control. I only found out later who he was. I hope he’s OK.”
West Ham said in a statement on Saturday afternoon: "Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital.
"At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course."
