Chelsea are said to be among a number of clubs who are tracking FC Porto star Martim Fernandes. The Boot Room report that 18-year-old right-back is being eyed by several clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Blues face the possibility of losing Reece James if the England international cannot manage a run of fitness, one again sidelined after a fresh setback. Fernandes could be a long-term replacement, recently racking up four league appearances for Porto and looking comfortable despite his youth.
Eboue deal done
Chelsea are said to have completed the signing of Watford youngster Mathis Eboue, who is the son of former Arsenal man Emmanuel Eboue. The youngster is being tipped as one of the best young talents, and the Blues are hoping to sign talented players at a young age to prevent the need for over-the-top spending.
“Chelsea have completed deal to sign England U16 talent Mathis Eboué from Watford,” Fabrizio Romano posted on X. “High quality attacking player, Eboue is former Arsenal player’s son — now can be considered a Chelsea player. Paperwork done, one more for Chelsea Academy long term plan. Here we go!” Watford will be due compensation for Eboue, but it’s unclear whether the compensation packet has been agreed. If it hasn’t, a tribunal will decide how much the Blues owe.
