Real Madrid may already have Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement in house – report

Jude Bellingham’s start to the 2024/25 season was underwhelming, to say the least, forcing every fan and spectator to think whether his last campaign’s numbers were a fluke.

Despite facing criticism earlier in the season, though, the Englishman has made a sensational comeback, making a clear statement after a less impressive start compared to the previous campaign.

In Real Madrid’s recent match against Girona, he opened the scoring, marking his fifth consecutive La Liga game with a goal.

This streak showcases his remarkable consistency and highlights his importance to the team. Breaking the brief drought he ended against Osasuna, Bellingham has since found the net against Leganes, Getafe, Athletic Club, and now Girona.

Slowly integrating

This incredible run makes Bellingham the first player in La Liga this season to score in five consecutive matches.

Last season, his best streak in the league was four consecutive games, achieved during the opening fixtures of the campaign. This year, however, he has surpassed that early feat, proving his growing impact within the squad.

In the Girona match, Real Madrid initially struggled to test goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. It was not until the half-hour mark that Brahim Diaz and Kylian Mbappe began threatening the Girona defence.

Yet, it was Bellingham who ultimately broke through, positioning himself perfectly in the box to convert a crucial opportunity and give Carlo Ancelotti’s side the advantage.

An important leader

With Vinicius Jr. sidelined due to injury, Bellingham has stepped up during a challenging period for Real Madrid.

His performance in the defeat against Athletic Club was particularly notable, as he stood out as the team’s most effective player on both ends of the pitch.

Apart from his goal-scoring abilities, he provided vital defensive support, thwarting potentially dangerous plays created by Ernesto Valverde’s side.

Bellingham’s latest goal brings him closer to the top scorers in La Liga for Real Madrid. Vinicius Jr. and Mbappe currently lead with eight goals each, while Bellingham now has five in the league.

Moreover, he has matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of scoring four goals against Girona as a Real Madrid player, cementing his status as a crucial figure in the squad.
