A roundup of some of the latest Premier League transfer news.

The fight at the top of the Premier League table became all the more exciting this weekend after Manchester City dropped points once again in what is becoming a disaster season for the reigning champions.

The Merseyside Derby was postponed due to the conditions of Storm Darragh, meaning leaders Liverpool must wait another week for their next fixture.

With just a handful of fixtures left before the start of 2025, the transfer rumours are starting to flood in. We’ve taken a look at some of the latest headlines as clubs prepare for the January window to spring open.

Newcastle ‘will accept’ offer for forward in January

Newcastle United are looking to raise some cash for their future transfer fund and they have decided to offer up Miguel Almiron in the new year. That’s according to former Man United scout Mick Brown, who says that the winger is no longer part of Eddie Howe’s plans and he will leave the club in January if the right offer is put on the table.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said Newcastle are ‘looking to move Almiron on’. He expanded: “They’re drumming up a bit of interest and they’ll accept the right offer in the January transfer window.

“So with the money they bring in from his sale, I’d expect that will be reinvested into the squad because there are a few areas they want to strengthen. Especially at right-wing, that’s their priority and it will be even more so if he leaves. How much money they’ll get for him at this stage, I’m not sure, but they want to raise some funds.”

The 3AM Verdict: Almiron’s contract at St James’ Park is due to expire in 2026 so Newcastle will be able to request a decent sum of money for his transfer next year. As things currently stand, the Magpies have just two senior right-wingers on their books but Almiron has mostly been left out of the picture. The 30-year-old has made just seven appearances in all competitions so far this season, and only one start in the Premier League. With very few minutes under his belt so far this season, it seems the best solution for all involved is to move Almiron on. Transfermarkt currently value the Paraguay international at €20 million (£16.5m) but it’s likely Newcastle will be able to squeeze some extra cash out of a transfer, especially as he does have that crucial goalscoring firepower in him.

Paul Merson makes ‘grapevine’ Liverpool contract claim

As January looms, the main topic of conversation surrounding Liverpool is the three players approaching the end of their contracts. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all yet to agree new terms with the Reds and contrasting reports have continued to do the rounds for months now.

Following Salah’s public comments about not being offered a new contract, fans and professionals alike are discussing his future. With the Egyptian contributing 15 goals and 12 assists in 21 games so far this season, many are urging Liverpool to tie him down with an impressive new deal.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Paul Merson has revealed that the Premier League leaders could be about to finally offer something to keep Salah at Anfield.

“We’re only hearing it on the grapevine, but we’re hearing two years with a year option to Mo Salah,” he said. “That’s a long time. I’d give him 300-400 grand a week now. Of course, I would today because he’s doing the business. I’m his biggest fan. I think he’s world class. I’ll say he gets in every team in the world. He’s a winger and he’s the top scorer in the Premier League. It’s just absolutely amazing the numbers he puts up week in, week out, year in, year out.”

The 3AM Verdict: Salah has expressed his disappointment in not being offered a new contract, and his love for the club and fans. His public comments can only suggest he is eager to put pen to paper and extend his stay at Liverpool, where he is one of, if not the most valued players within the team. It would be a massive loss to see Salah leave next year but it will be an even bigger shame for him to leave for free. The Egyptian is showing that there’s still plenty of life left in him as he leads the Golden Boot race. Quite frankly, Liverpool simply must work on getting at least a one-year extension over the line in the coming weeks.
