Liverpool make January transfer decision as fresh£5m claim emerges

Andy Robertson

Liverpool have reportedly started their search to sign a new left-back to become the long-term successor to Andy Robertson. The Scotland international, who arrived at Anfield in 2017, has just two years left on his current deal.

According to Caught Offside, a January move could be on the cards as Liverpool could take the opportunity to strengthen their defensive options. Previous reports have suggested Liverpool are admirers of Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and Antonee Robinson from Fulham.

The 30-year-old had an underwhelming start to the season, which led to errors at the back. In his seven years at Liverpool, Robertson has racked up 316 appearances to date and has been very influential during the Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield.

However, it's unclear whether he will be offered fresh terms. The report adds the Reds are 'keeping tabs' on Robinson and Kerkez while Manchester United have also been linked with the latter.

Elsewhere, Lennon Miller is reportedly attracting the interest of the English top-flight. The Motherwell midfielder, 18, has been subject of scouts from the Premier League according to the Daily Mail.

It's reported both Brighton and Southampton are 'tracking' the teenager while Liverpool and Newcastle are also in the mix. The report states he could be available for around £5m.

Speaking on William Hill's The Warm Up show, his father, former Aberdeen striker Lee, has warned interested clubs. "His next move is so important to play and develop. He doesn’t want to go and play in a 23’s and then build himself again," Lee said.

"He’s a first team player now and people are respecting him for that. His team-mates are respecting him for that. So, it is a difficult one. He’s loving playing at Motherwell. He loves being there but it will eventually come where he has to go and further his career.

Lee added: "It’s not just as easy as going ‘this big club’s in for you so we’ll go there’ because there’s so many layers behind it; the manager, the ethos, the style of play, the style of player you see him fitting into that mould, the environment has to be right. There’s a load of things to weigh up and it’s a difficult one."
