Spanish outlet Fichajes is the king of spurious transfer rumors and another one has emerged involving Frenkie de Jong and Ryan Gravenberch.
It is claimed that Real Madrid is determined to sign Gravenberch and that Liverpool is already planning for his departure, with Barcelona midfielder De Jong earmarked as a possible replacement for his compatriot at Anfield.
Gravenberch only joined Liverpool last year, moving to Merseyside from Bayern Munich, and after a fairly unremarkable first season in a red shirt, he has emerged as a key player under Arne Slot. The chances of Liverpool being willing to let Gravenberch leave just as he is emerging as a brilliant midfield option for the team are slim.
For what it's worth, Fichajes says Madrid views Gravenberch as a perfect option to compliment the likes of Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga.
Meanwhile, CaughtOffside reports that Manchester City has joined the race to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the season.
City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all named as clubs who are holding talks with the player's representatives ahead of him potentially become a free agent. It is reported that the recent signs of decline shown by Kyle Walker have prompted City to consider alternative right-backs.
Alexander-Arnold previously described matches between Liverpool and City as the English version of El Clasico, and were he to move to City, Liverpool fans would surely be less likely to forgive him than were he to make the move to Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold has not had much to say about where he wants to be playing next season and beyond, and said in September that he had no intention of letting negotiations over an extension with Liverpool play out in public.
"I want to be a Liverpool player this season [as a minimum] is what I will say," the 26-year-old said. "I have been at the club 20 years now. I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public - and this one won't be either."
