Liverpool’s weekend ended up being a quiet one with their Merseyside derby with Everton being postponed due to Storm Darragh.
Gary Neville gave his take on Liverpool’s clash with Everton getting called off as the Reds were given an unexpected weekend off having played Newcastle United midweek, with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea looking to close the gap on Arne Slot’s side to four points later today.
With Girona coming up next for the Anfield side on Tuesday, some attention this weekend could be placed behind the scenes on zoning in on transfer targets heading into January, with Liverpool reportedly in the mix for Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.
And Martin Keown has now lauded a Premier League star as one of the best in England having recently been linked with Liverpool.

Liverpool target Alexander Isak hailed as ‘the best striker’ in the Premier League
Speaking on BBC Sport’s coverage of Newcastle’s trip to Brentford, the former Arsenal defender lauded Alexander Isak as ‘the best striker’ in England based on current form, with the £60m forward scoring against Liverpool on Wednesday.
Rousing The Kop exclusively reported that Isak is on Liverpool’s radar, with the Reds eyeing up a potential striker signing in 2025 with Mohamed Salah potentially leaving and Darwin Nunez’s form once again failing to live up to expectations.
And for Keown, Isak is currently the best centre-forward in the Premier League based on form, with the Swedish international on the scoresheet again this weekend having scored Newcastle’s opening goal in their 4-2 loss against Brenford.
The pundit said: “Alexander Isak is the best striker on form in the league at the moment. We saw what he did against Liverpool. He gets in between two markers, finds the space, it’s a lovely ball in and he tucks it away.”

Isak would be a dream attacking signing for Liverpool in 2025
With Slot praising Isak after the Newcastle striker’s performance against Liverpool earlier this week, there’s a good reason why the former Real Sociedad star is wanted by the Reds heading into 2025.
And with Liverpool’s attacking ranks set for a radical change next year should Salah leave Anfield, Isak could be a dream forward signing for the Reds if a deal can be reached with the Magpies for their star striker.
Indeed, Isak is ready for the next step in his promising career, and Liverpool could be a dream destination for the Swedish superstar, who could thrive on Merseyside as Slot’s talismanic forward in this new era for the Premier League giants.
