Report: Chelsea had approach for£35m player who supports the club rejected during the summer

It looks like one club may have denied one of their players a dream move to Chelsea over the summer.

Chelsea were active during the last transfer window, bringing in the likes of Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho, who are all attackers.

The Blues also strengthened their defence after signing Tosin Adarabioyo and Renato Veiga.

The latter has come in to provide cover for Marc Cucurella, but it appears that the 21-year-old was not the only left-back that the club looked at. Veiga is hoping to win trophies at Chelsea this season, with his side being the favourites to win the Conference League.

Lecce rejected Chelsea approach for Patrick Dorgu

It has been reported that Chelsea want to sign Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in the new year.

However, their interest in the left-back, who has been playing on the right flank in the current campaign, does not appear to be fresh.

According to the Daily Mirror, Lecce turned down approaches from both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur for Dorgu during the summer but could sell him for £35m in the future.

He has made 14 appearances in Serie A for the Italian club this season and scored three goals.

Chelsea Patrick Dorgu’s dream move

If Dorgu does decide he wants to move to the Premier League and Lecce eventually become open to selling him, then Chelsea are likely to be his dream destination.

Last November, the 20-year-old revealed that his favourite team are Chelsea. Dorgu spoke to one Danish outlet and when asked does he have a favourite club, he responded: “Yes, it’s Chelsea.”

Whether Chelsea sign the Denmark international or not, Ben Chilwell’s career at Stamford Bridge looks to be over.

The English left-back is yet to play a single minute of football in the Premier League this term. His only appearance so far has come in the Carabao Cup, with the club not even registering him for the Conference League.
