Michael Keane set to rejoin Burnley as Everton exit nears
Bryan King has suggested Everton defender Michael Keane could make a return to Burnley.
The ex-Goodison scout thinks the centre-back, who is currently sidelined due to injury, would benefit from moving back to Turf Moor.
As reported by the i [6 December], clubs in Italy are interested in Keane, who is out of contract at Goodison Park at the end of the season. The Toffees don’t want to lose the 31-year-old for free, and therefore a January exit could be on the cards.
However, King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t think a move to Italy is likely for Keane.
“Who is going to buy him?” King asked.
“He will probably go back to Burnley. I don’t believe that there are clubs in Italy that will sign him. Keane has been a poor signing for Everton anyway.
“I think a move back to Turf Moore would suit him, and I think it would suit Burnley as well. He is a player who hasn’t fulfilled what was expected of him at Goodison Park.”
Keane made a big money move from Burnley to Everton in 2017.
He has since gone on to play for the Toffees more than 200 times across seven and a half years. However, while he has spent many days on Merseyside, the majority of those have been darks ones, with Everton suffering in recent years, although that does look set to change.
Therefore, while Keane will likely remember the club fondly once he does leave, it is hard to imagine that the defender will have many positive memories to look back on from a playing point of view.

As a result, a return to Burnley might be what he needs at this stage in his career.
